Baahng & Co. is pleased to present 밪elected Works by Zheng Chongbin, the artist뭩 first one-person show in New York.  In celebrating Asia Week New York 2013, this exhibition is curated by Daniel Chen and is on view from March 16 to March 31, 2013, at the gallery Baahng & Co. 밪elected Works showcases Zheng Chongbin뭩 meticulous processes and his continuing fascination with the light in Northern California and the dissemination (and dissolution) of geometric forms.

Formally trained in classical Chinese Ink Painting, ZhengChongbin paints in the abstract, employing black ink and white acrylic paint on Xuan paper.  Of his work, he explains: 밒 am building something rather than [just] painting.  All of the materials that I apply react and bleach through the paper, often creating a sculptural effect.  Through his works, the artist dismantles the classical ink art form and explores the tension and interplay  between light and dark, the experimental and meditative, and the monochromatic and textural resulting in a contemporary form that is both unique and highly personal.

Zheng Chongbin was born in Shanghai in 1961.  He studied art in China and received an M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1991.  He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, and his works have been collected by institutions, including the British Museum, the San Francisco Asian Museum, and the Daimler Art Collection in Germany.

Baahng & Co. is located at 790 Madison Avenue, New York, New York 10065.  The Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 6PM, and on Saturdays, by appointment.  For more information, please call 212-255-2177 or contact
